Moment John Boadu Scratched His Head Before Counting Began
African Politics is not for the faint-hearted as more resources are committed by determined aspirants to win elections and many of the youth have decided to venture into politics because they perceive this field as a ‘lucrative business.’ Gone are the days when people listen to genuine promises by politicians and decide to vote them into power. Today, it involves everything and a politician must be optimistic even when they lose.
John Boadu as an incumbent General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party had no modicum of doubt to successfully emerge victorious in the just-ended national delegate conference at the Accra Sports Stadium. He was ranked the favorite among all the top contenders simply because of how he has amplified the government policies and identified with the grassroots.
However, luck eluded John as the majority of the delegates voted for Justin Frimpong Kodua contrary to popular predictions and expectations. Surprisingly, Justin declared his intention to contest the position in March of this year and was seen as an underdog. The gentleman is the chief executive officer of the youth employment agency and this win is massive for him.
A video that has emerged shows John confidently declaring “I will come out with flying colors,” when he was interviewed by Umaru Amadu Sanda of Citi TV. The body language of John created a different picture from his words and at a point began to scratch his head. Did he know he wouldn’t even before the contest?
