“Mortuary and Funeral Services Studies” is a new course offered by Pentecost University.
A new course in “Mortuary Science and Funeral Studies” was successfully implemented at Pentecost University, a school connected to the Church of Pentecost, before the 2023 academic year.
The university’s main campus in Sowutuom, Accra, successfully hosted the “Mortuary Science and Funeral Studies” course on Tuesday, November 22, 2022.
Prof. Kwabena Agyapong-Kodua, vice chancellor of Pentecost University, stated that although death cannot be prevented by people, it may be lessened via preparations.
“we can’t fight death but we can develop structures to minimize its associated agonies and preserve the dignity of our departed loved ones.” – Prof. Kwabena Agyapong-Kodua.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Kwabena Agyapong-Kodua at the ceremony further added that “We realized there are legal implications and this will be handled by experts from our Faculty of Law whilst the cultural, psychosocial aspect of grief and pastoral dimension will be handled by our Pentecost School of Theology, Ministries and Leadership.”
“Not only that, the major engineering aspects associated with refrigeration, and decomposition will be handled by the Faculty of Engineering Sciences and Computing.”
