A brave 38-year-old woman from Elsies River has finally chosen to speak out about the sexual abuse she endured for decades at the hands of her 73-year-old father. This happened after she learnt that her young niece were also victims of her father’s abuse.

According to the woman, the abuse began when she was only eight years old. Her father who preyed on her vulnerability subjected her to both oral and vaginal rape after her 14-year-old sister ran away. What made matters worse was that her own mother refused to believe her, consistently sided with her abuser. The woman vividly remembered the shame and anguish she felt when her father ejaculated on the bed next to her.

The abuse persisted for years until she was 13. Shhe confided in her brother, who immediately accompanied her to the police station to file a case. However, her mother discovered their actions and reacted with anger, causing the woman to flee. But her escape was short-lived, as her mother found her the next day at a day hospital. To her horror, her mother then forced her to withdraw the case, coercing her into submission by taking her to the abuser’s family.
Fast forward to the present year, the woman discovered that her nieces had suffered the same fate. Despite their efforts to seek justice by filing cases, all their attempts were dismissed due to a lack of evidence, compounded by the traumatized state of the victims, rendering them unable to testify. Determined to make a difference this time, the woman has reopened her own case. Even if she does not emerge victorious in court, she wants people to know his true nature and hopes to inspire other survivors to come forward, assuring them that there will always be someone who will listen and support them.
