A 24-year-old guy who is accused of raping his female friend in the Harare area of Zimbabwe has been sentenced to 8 years in prison. After a full hearing, the Harare Magistrate, Mr. Taurai Manuwere, found Denzel Chikore guilty on Thursday, May 25, 2023, and gave him his sentence.

The judge gave the convict a sentence of twelve years in jail, but he only had to serve eight if he didn’t do anything similar again in the next five years.
During the trial, the court heard that the accuser and the convict were at 19 Banchory Road in Mandara on January 14, 2023, around 5 p. m., getting ready for an event with other friends.

The court also heard that after getting ready, they all had dinner and drinks together. After dinner, the victim, who was very tired, went to her room and slept with the door unlocked because her cousin was going to join her later.
The accuser woke up around 2 a. m. and found that Chikore had taken off her clothes and was having sɛʒ with her.
The accuser told the court that she was shocked and confused when she woke up and found the convict on top of her having sɛʒ with her, but she couldn’t do anything until he was done.
She said that after having sɛʒ with her, Chikore left the room while she was still sleeping. When she woke up at 9 a. m., she remembered what before and told her cousin what had happened.
The person who filed the complaint said that she went home and told her uncle what happened and asked him to help her tell her parents.

Later, a report was made to the Zimbabwe Republic Police, and the suspect was taken into custody. The victim was taken to the hospital to be checked out and treated.
