The race for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate for the 2024 general elections is already heating up, with aspirants barely waiting for the dust to settle on the outcome of the 2020 elections.

So far, a host of names have been thrown up as possible candidates, including the NDC’s current flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, who ran unsuccessfully against Nana Akufo-Addo in the last election.

Other aspirants include former finance minister, Seth Terkper, former health minister, Alex Segbefia, former education minister, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, and the current Vice President of the NDC, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang.

The battle for the NDC presidential ticket is expected to be fierce, with each aspirant keen to convince delegates that they have the charisma, experience, and vision to lead the party to victory in 2024.

For some, like John Mahama, the primaries offer an opportunity to secure a second chance at the presidency and redeem himself after losing to Nana Akufo-Addo in 2016 and 2020.

For others, like Seth Terkper and Alex Segbefia, the primaries offer a chance to prove themselves as viable candidates and gain national exposure ahead of 2024.

Perhaps the most intriguing aspirants are the two female candidates – Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang and Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang.
