NPP’s Kwabena Agyapong Calls For Change; Says There’s The Need For A New Era.
A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Agyapong is calling for new ways of doing things to transform Ghana for the benefits of its citizenry.
He says the time has come for people who seek political office to come to the discussion with transformative ideas to steer the country to the path of growth and prosperity.
“Me for instance, it’s not about becoming a President but rather the transformation of this country Ghana. Where we are as a country, there is a clear need for a new era.
“New thinking, new ideas, new direction. In fact our very understanding of party politics and public service has to be looked at again,” he said.
Mr Agyapong, who is a former General Secretary of the ruling NPP, made these remarks in an interview with Accra based Happy FM last Tuesday.
Answering questions on recent comments made by Mr Hopeson Adorye with respect to the role of some tribes in the party, Mr Agyapong says the NPP tradition is bigger than anyone or group of persons.
Hopeson Adorye, another leading member of the NPP recently came under serious criticism from his own party, the NPP, following a comment he made with respect to the role of persons from the Northerners parts of Ghana in the New Patriotic Party.
At a health walk dubbed “Aduru Wo Su” held in Kumasi for Alan Kyeremanteng, one of leading hopefuls for the NPP flagbearership slot, Mr Adorye said that the Dombos (Northerners) in the party are only meant to serve as running mates to either a Danquah or Busia presidential candidates.
But Mr Agyapong says the NPP as a political entity came from the United Party which is nationalistic in nature and that a party with such a root cannot be limited to just a few people. Mahama
