Ashanti Regional NSS Director Verbally Abuse Nurse, Calls Her “Stupid” For Doing Her Job At MANHYIA HOSPITAL. The Ashanti Regional NSS Director, Alex Owusu Mensah, verbally attacked a nurse at the Manhyia Government Hospital in the Ashanti Region for no other reason than that she was standing up for her patients.
A house officer who was supposed to be on duty but wasn’t discovered caused this mess. In an effort to assist a sick client, the nurse requested the home officer to respond to the client’s demands with some prescription medications, which infuriated the house officer and her family.
The regional director of the National Service Secretariat of the Ashanti Region and the house officer’s father, Alex Owusu Mensah, rushed to the hospital and began verbally harassing the nurse, calling her all kinds of insults.
The man could be heard using derogatory language about the nurse on the tape, including calling her dumb and disparaging the nursing field.
The assault of their colleague as a result of her standing up for her patient has caused outrage among nurses throughout the nation. The GRNMA, the mother association of nurses, has been contacted by nurses to take immediate action.
Meanwhile the Ghana Registered Nurse And Midwife Association has issued a statement calling for the immediate sack of the Regional Director of NSS, Ashanti Region.
