Updated salaries for key government officials or leaders of government machinery: President, Vice President, First Lady, Second Lady, Speaker, EC Boss, Council of State Members have been announced.

When news came out announcing the payment of formalized salaries and allowances for First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo and Second Lady Samira Bawumia, many Ghanaians fumed.

We did a breakdown of the backdated salaries and allowances that would be paid to the presidential spouses where each individual is expected to take a gargantuan amount of money.

Should First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo and Second Lady Samira Bawumia be paid their backdated salary from 2017 to June 2021, this is a projection of what they are supposed to take home:

Allowance Per Month: 87,000

Presently, President Akufo-Addo takes an approximated salary of GHS30,000 per month. This is the salary the president receives after all taxes have been deducted. However, the allowances he takes are more than his monthly salary.

Meanwhile, there are individuals whose jobs appear to be more important than the president and therefore take huge salaries than the president.
