The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is making a historic visit to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, at the Police Headquarters in Accra today.
The visit supports the Asanteman’s favourable image of the IGP following the prolongation of his tenure.
It also demonstrates increased institutional trust in Mr. Yohuno’s leadership at a time when the Police Service is experiencing significant change.
Since taking office, IGP Yohuno has played a key role in altering the image and operations of the Ghana Police Service.
During his tenure, there has been a renewed emphasis on professionalism, community participation, and transparent policing—all of which have contributed to the restoration of public trust.

The excellent statewide policing operations during the recent Christmas celebrations were a key highlight of his leadership.
The Police Service carried out what many observers have called one of the most seamless and secure Christmas security operations in recent years under the direct supervision of the IGP and his management team, guaranteeing the safety of people and property throughout the nation.
In addition to its operational achievements, the IGP has remained remarkably friendly and transparent with the public and media.
Under his direction, the Police Service has continuously delivered accurate and timely information, which is a change from previous procedures that were frequently chastised for “massaged” data or delayed communication.
Public trust has increased and citizen-police cooperation has improved as a result of this open approach.
The Asantehene’s visit today is therefore both developmental and symbolic, emphasising the traditional authority’s support for institutional reforms in the security sector.
