The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has refuted media claims that state that for the previous ten months, over 300 of its employees nationwide have not received their salaries.
In a statement issued on October 8, 2025, the Agency called the accusations false and clarified that its CEO, Malik Basintale, could not possibly owe employees ten months’ worth of unpaid salary because he had only taken office in February 2025.
YEA claims that from February to September 2025, all employees who were confirmed and authorised on the official payroll received regular payments.
Additionally, the Agency stated that all of its authorised employees have received their salaries.
Management also explained that a full staff audit was conducted out earlier in the year to guarantee that only verified workers remained on the payroll. It stated that the purpose of the exercise was to uphold the Agency’s integrity while encouraging openness and responsibility.
YEA clarified that prior to the current CEO’s appointment, certain employees’ contracts had expired. Those whose contracts were accepted have subsequently been reinstated and paid, while those who were impacted were requested to reapply for renewal.
The Agency gave the public the reassurance that it is still dedicated to the well-being of its workers and that it will keep providing young people in Ghana with long-term employment possibilities.
“YEA’s ongoing efforts are focused on supporting young Ghanaians through employment and empowerment initiatives,” the statement added, expressing worry about reports of hardship and unemployment-related difficulties among the youth.
