The passing of Hon. Naser Toure Mahama, the Member of Parliament for the Ayawaso East constituency in the Greater Accra Region, has caused the Ghanaian Parliament to express deep sorrow.
”On behalf of the Speaker of Parliament, the Leadership of Parliament, and the entire Parliamentary Service, we extend our deepest condolences to the family, his colleagues in Parliament, his constituents in Ayawaso East, and all who were touched by his work and his humanity.”
After a brief illness, the 60-year-old National Democratic Congress (NDC) lawmaker allegedly passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
Parliament described the deceased as a devoted public servant and a champion for his constituents, whose dedication to Ghana’s growth was steadfast, in a statement issued by the Director of Public Affairs.
According to the statement, the late congressman personified the philanthropic attitude and service ethos that are characteristics of public service.
Hon. Naser Toure Mahama served our nation with dedication, honesty, and a strong sense of duty.
The statement highlighted that “his contributions to the House, his advocacy for development projects, and his tireless efforts to improve the lives of the people he represented will be remembered.”
