Abu Trica born Frederick Kumi has been arrested for his involvement in an $8 million romance scam that targeted elderly victims in the United States.
The indictment, unsealed recently in a U.S. federal court, also names him by his other known aliases: Emmanuel Kojo Baah Obeng and Abu Trica.
According to the US Federal court, Abu Trica was part of a criminal network that have been using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to create fake identities and engage victims in romantic relationships online since 2023.

The perpetrators reportedly targeted elderly individuals through social media and dating platforms.
Before scamming them, they first built trust through frequent phone calls, emails, and messaging before requesting money or valuables under false pretences, such as urgent medical bills, travel expenses, or investment opportunities.
