The murder of Stephen King Amoah, the immigration officer whose burned body was discovered in a drain at Ashongman Estates, is being investigated more thoroughly, according to the Ghana Police Service.

The Kaneshie District Court was informed by Chief Inspector Apewah Achana that police had recovered evidence connected to the crime, which forensic specialists must review.

There has been a postmortem, but the complete report has not yet been completed.

According to him, the request for an extension of the accused person’s remand stemmed from continued efforts to apprehend and arraign further accomplices.

Bright Aweh, commonly known as Robert or “Highest Bright,” was charged by authorities on July 25, 2025, as the main suspect in Amoah’s murder.

The court read the charge and kept his plea.

After going home to meet Aweh at Ashongman Estates in Accra on July 3, 2025, Amoah vanished.

Later, his burned remains were found in a sewer at Aboum Junction, which is close to Kwabenya.

According to investigations, the two allegedly set up a meeting to settle a debt after seeing pictures of bundles of cash on WhatsApp.

Aweh stated that he handed Amoah GHC 500,000 to settle a debt and retain the remaining amount, but his account’s irregularities prompted questions.

Aweh was initially charged with kidnapping and arraigned at the Kwabenya Circuit Court.

Investigations at his home later turned up a bloody fufu pestle wrapped in polythene and soiled camouflage cloth.
