Sad: Police Officer Drowns In An Attempt To Clampdown Illegal Miners In The Western North Region

News coming in indicates that a police officer by name Nuhu Abubakar has met his untimely death in the Western North region of Ghana.

According to reports by Onua TV, the police officer went to River Sui at Awukukrom in the Suaman District with another security officer to stop galamseyers from operating. Upon arrival, they realized that the galamseyers have fled to the other side of the river.

Report reveals that Nuhu Abubakar tried to take the mining equipments used by these lliegal miners from the river side but unfortunately fell inside the river and died.

The body has since been deposited at the Sefwi Wiawso Government Hospital morgue for autopsy and further investigation.

This is not the first time a security officer has died in the fight against galamsey. There have been several cases where security officers were beaten to death by some illegal miners. Other illegal miners have also lost their lives as well.
