On the fringes of the 80th United Nations General Assembly, President John Dramani Mahama, the African Union Champion for African Financial Institutions, will hold a historic high-level event to formally introduce “The Accra Reset: Reimagining Global Governance for Health and Development.”
In order to make the global governance architecture fit for purpose in the volatile post-SDG age, this important endeavor will introduce a bold and practical approach.
The occasion will bring together a powerful group of heads of state, heads of multilateral organizations, charitable organizations, entrepreneurs, and representatives of civil society from Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean, and international organizations.

Heads of state and government from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and other important regions will join the Global Presidential Council, a groundbreaking body that President Mahama will publicly unveil at this ceremony.
Political leadership will be provided by the Council to advance the goals of the Accra Reset. In order to ensure political will and intellectual rigor in creating new models for international cooperation, it will later form a High-Level Advisory Panel, bringing together distinguished experts from the fields of health, finance, innovation, and business.
