These scripts have come to light following growing concerns surrounding the high failure rate among the candidates.
Out of the 7,728 individuals who retook the examination, which primarily focused on literacy and numeracy, only 1,277 were successful.
This figure represents a mere 16.5 percent of the candidates who took the test again. The GTLE was introduced as a means to license teaching practitioners.
Upon examination of some of the scripts obtained, it became apparent that the candidates were required to compose a 200-word essay on the topic of how homework contributes to teaching and learning.

However, it remains unclear whether the candidates struggled to comprehend the question or simply failed to recognize its importance, leading them to neglect providing a proper response.
Apart from the candidates’ abysmal handwriting, the answers they provided were virtually indecipherable and incomprehensible.
The Registrar of GTLE, Dr. Christian Addai-Poku, expressed his frustration with this predicament during an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen.
He revealed that some students even resorted to repeating the very questions they were asked.

Dr. Addai-Poku further disclosed that all the candidates had taken the examination at least twice, with a few individuals attempting it as many as nine times. Despite these disappointing results, he assured them that they would have another opportunity to prove themselves in the upcoming November exams.

It is evident from the scripts obtained that there is a pressing need for improvement in the candidates’ performance, both in terms of their understanding of the questions and their ability to provide coherent and legible answers.
The upcoming exams in November will serve as a crucial chance for these aspiring teachers to redeem themselves and demonstrate their competence.
