Today at Accra Sports Stadium, Kumasi Asante Kotoko were left in tatters as Sudanese side Al-Hilal took a 1-0 advantage in the CAF Champions League round one first-leg tie.
In a game that was far from entertaining, both sides had limited chances to take the lead.
The first half ended in a stalemate in an opening 45 minutes full of crunchy tackles and dead-end attacks.
At the end of the 90 minutes plus six minutes of stoppage time Asante Kotoko 0 – 1 Al-Hilal.
Paa Kofi Susum, former PRO of the National Chapters Committee (NCC) of Accra Hearts of Oak in an interview on Angel FM’s Floodlight Sports show said that his club, Hearts of Oak is behind the poor performance of Kotoko. He based on the fact that Kotoko didn’t respect traditional leaders in Accra and Hearts Of Oak.
That they didn’t seek for spiritual directions and permission from the gods of the land before they adopted Accra Sports Stadium as their home ground.
He further lamented that Kotoko is their enemy and cannot leave Kumasi, Cape Coast, Tamale to come to Accra to play their home matches. He emphasized that Hearts of Oak is working against them.
He finally advised them, “if possible Kotoko show change their home ground in the subsequent matches”, he added.
