Ghanaian dancehall artist and former member of Militant, Addi Self has said that Shatta Wale started his music journey.
According to Addi Self, his music career came to light when he had an encounter with Shatta Wale. He criticize Shatta Wale saying that he influenced his career choice when he left the slums.
Speaking in an interview with Rev Erskine on Y107.9 FM’s “Myd Mornings Radio Show” Addi Self unvail that the first time he met Shtta Wale was at the Accra Mall after he had been partnernize constantly with Shatta Wale on social media.
The first day I met Shatta Wale was right at the roundabout at Accra Mall and I was actually coming to buy a ticket for Ghana Meet Naija. I was in my car driving and a friend who happened to have seen the number plate told me that was Shatta and we started hitting horns. We knew ourselves from afar because we were already talking online. We started talking and asked me to link up and when he got home he texted me and that’s where it the journey started with shatta wale,” he continued.
He furthered, “We’ve recorded a lot of songs. Taking Over even came later, we recorded Ghetto Star, Love Me so Real, and a lot of singles before Taking Over passed through and that was the biggest we ever did. I realized it when we went to perform at the University of Ghana during one of 4stye TV’s shows and it was crazy. We literally had to perform it like five times.”
