Shocking As John Mahama Came With 3 Dogs To The Asafotufiami Festival, Titus Glover Reveals
Over the years there have been concerns about how the Presidency spends money on trivial things in the country. The opposition National Democratic Congress have questioned the extravagant jet expenses to the entourage of the president when he is on tours across the country. Many have partly blamed the dwindling fortunes of the economy to the spending of government officials.
On “Ekosii Sen”, Eric Adjei, NDC’s Deputy Regional Communications Officer for the Bono Region bemoaned some of the things he had observed as President Akufo-Addo tours the country. The president is currently on a tour to several parts of the country. Yesterday he rounded his tour of the Upper West Region and today started his tour of the Savannah Region. According to Eric Adjei he is amused at how the president is carrying chair around and wasting the taxpayers’ money by transporting it.
This argument was countered by Titus Glover, former MP for Tema East representing the NPP. According to Titus Glover there is no one who spent the country’s money like John Mahama. He explained that at one event in 2015 during the Asafotufiami festival he noticed how some military men brought a special chair for Mahama. He added that after the chair was placed down, 3 Alsatian dogs were sent to sniff around where the chair was placed.
Titus Glover mentioned that the annoying part about Mahama’s convoy was that the dogs was put in a car that even humans didn’t sit on and they were fed to the full during the programme marking the Asafotufiami festival. He lamented why the NDC will thus complain about the chairs and convoy of President Akufo-Addo when John Mahama had done worse.
It is interesting to see that the politics of equalization has been employed by the two dominant political parties in the country. This has been one of the drawbacks of Ghana’s democracy. Is it the case that one government has to repeat what they accused the other party for? Why didn’t Titus Glover defend the necessity of the presidential Chair and chose to rather hit at John Mahama? Interestingly, the NDC will one day come to power and do same thing they spoke against.
