SO DEBERWURA DEFIES YAGBONWURA AND GONJA TRADITIONAL COUNCIL DECISION

So the Paramount Chief of the Deber Traditional Area of Gonja Deberwura Defies the Decision of the King and Overlord of Gonja Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale (I) and the Gonja Traditional Council to purportedly enskin a Chief Imam for the Deber Traditional Area of Gonja.

Anyway the recognised Chief Imam of the Deber Traditional Area accepted by the Yagbonwura and the Gonja Traditional Council will be enskined this Saturday 8th July, 2023 (see flyer).

It would be recalled that some cases discussed at the first Gonja Traditional Council meeting chaired by Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto (I) on the 12th and 13th June, 2023 include the Deber Traditional Area Chief Imam issue.

After a lengthy deliberation the Imam issue of Deber, it was judged that the leader of the Sakpares of Deber Traditional Area Alhaji Iddrisu Alhassan is the rightful Chief Imam of Deber. He was subsequently pronounced by the Gonja Traditional Council as the Chief Imam of the Deber Traditional Area.

This is is the first test for the relatively new Yagbonwura and the Gonja Traditional Council.

Either their decision on the Deber Traditional Area Imam issue stays or the Yagbonwura will forever remain irrelevant.
