‘White people will be the first target’: South Africa’s Julius Malema warns of impending ‘violence’ because ‘the poor are getting poorer’
The richest nation on the continent, South Africa, is about to see social instability, which one opposition leader compared to “an Arab Spring.”
Julius Malema, the divisive head of the opposition, predicted that one day the nation would awaken to “extremely furious people who are not going to be sensible.”
In South Africa, dissatisfaction with the ruling African National Congress (ANC) party is at an all-time high as a result of the nation’s social conditions and “the poor growing poor,” according to Malema.
‘When the unled revolution comes… the first target is going to be white people,’ Mr Malema told the BBC’s Hardtalk programme, adding that the uprising would also target ‘black elites.’
The only way to head off the violence was an immediate intervention to raise the quality of living for poor people in the country, according to Malema.
‘The violence that is going to happen in South Africa is because the elite is disappearing and the poor are becoming more poorer,’ he said.
