Speaker Bagbin Champions Ghana’s Anti-Corruption Agenda At Un Summit

The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has highlighted Ghana’s growing leadership in the worldwide fight against corruption at the UN’s largest anti-corruption forum in Doha.

Addressing CoSP 11 of the UN Convention Against Corruption, he emphasised Ghana’s unwavering commitment to openness and accountability, which is based on strong political leadership, preventive reforms, asset recovery, and resilient institutions, while also asking for increased international cooperation.

Ghana’s contribution in obtaining the first-ever UNCAC resolution on transparency in political party financing and election campaigns was a significant accomplishment.

Ghana spearheaded negotiations that upheld citizens’ right to know who finances politics in collaboration with Norway, Albania, and Mongolia.

The Doha Declaration 2025, which was adopted at the conference with the topic “Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity,” reaffirms the world’s commitment to enhancing accountability, transparency, and integrity in democratic governance.
