A Texas man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for the fatal shooting of his wife after discovering she was involved in an affair with another man.

Carey Birmingham, 60, pleaded guilty to the unaliving of his wife, Patricia Birmingham, which occurred in December 2021 outside their home in Spring, Texas.

According to court records and a report by ABC 13, the couple argued for approximately 30 minutes before the shooting.

During the confrontation, Birmingham was captured on video telling his wife she was going to “meet Jesus” moments before he shot her three times in the head, unaliving her at the scene. In the same recording, he was heard saying, “I hope it was worth it. I’m done, I’m f–king done.”

Prosecutors say the shooting was triggered after Birmingham learned of his wife’s infidelity. The video evidence played a central role in the case.

Birmingham’s attorney, Anthony Osso, disclosed that his client entered a guilty plea before a rare all-women jury.

The defense attempted to argue that the killing occurred in the heat of the moment, urging the jury to consider the emotional state of the accused at the time of the crime.

Despite the plea and mitigation arguments, the court sentenced Birmingham to 10 years behind bars for the fatal act.
