The 73.6-kilometer Cape Coast to Takoradi Road will be renovated, and President Mahama cut the sod yesterday.
A dual carriageway with nine interchanges, ten bridges, fifteen footbridges and underpasses, twenty km of service roads, a rest area, and an axle-weigh station will be constructed as part of the government’s Big Push Initiative.
It is anticipated that the project will be finished in two years.
President Mahama stated during a brief ceremony that the project will greatly reduce travel times between Cape Coast and Takoradi by as much as 40%. Additionally, it will improve safety and lower accident rates.

The project will facilitate access to Takoradi Port, increase trade and logistics in the Western Region, improve tourism along the corridor, and create roughly 2,000 direct and 6,000 indirect jobs to assist local employment and economic empowerment, he said.
Hon. Kwame Agbodza, the Minister of Roads and Highways, gave Ghanaians the assurance that all contractors taking part in the Big Push Initiative had received orientation and are prepared to construct “the best roads ever witnessed in our country.”
