The stakeholder committee examining DSTV pricing in Ghana has been given an extension of one week by Communications Minister Sam George.

The committee will now turn in its final report by September 29, 2025, having started work on the project on September 8, 2025.

The National Communications Authority (NCA) clarified in a statement on Tuesday, September 23, that the extension will enable the committee to finish its consultations and guarantee that the Minister’s concerns over DSTv’s pricing structure are completely addressed in its recommendations.

Building a common understanding of DSTv pricing in Ghana, suggesting business-friendly solutions that all parties can agree upon, and creating a plan to stop the illicit importation of DSTv decoders and services from Nigeria into Ghana are all part of the committee’s mandate.

The NCA claims that although the committee has made significant strides since its founding, more time is needed to balance the opinions of all stakeholders.

This evaluation coincides with growing consumer complaints about the cost of DSTV subscriptions in Ghana and their increasing effects, as well as the ongoing problem of unauthorized cross-border access to the service.
