The Fifth Review of Ghana’s IMF-supported program was accepted by the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Executive Board on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.

The decision recognises the government’s persistent efforts to bolster public finances, promote economic recovery, and restore macroeconomic stability. It also represents Ghana’s excellent performance under the Extended Credit Facility (ECF) program.

After the Fifth Review is finished, a sixth tranche of US$380 million will be released.

Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minister of Finance, welcomed the approval and called it a significant step forward in Ghana’s economic recovery.

The Finance Minister claims that the IMF Executive Board’s ruling is an unmistakable endorsement of the government’s reform program and general economic management.

Dr. Forson emphasised, “This is clear confirmation that Ghana is firmly resetting for growth, jobs, and economic transformation.”
