The Domestic Debt Exchange Program (DDEP) has successfully disbursed GH₵ 9.7 billion in coupon payments, according to the Ministry of Finance.

The payment, which was made on August 19, 2025, totals GH₵ 9,698,815,220.17, according to the Ministry, making GH₵ 19.4 billion the total sum disbursed under the DDEP in 2025.

“The payment demonstrates Government’s unwavering commitment to honouring the terms outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding signed under the exchange programme and is expected to strengthen investor confidence and support fiscal credibility,” the Ministry stated.

In accordance with the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921), as amended, the government has created two specific sinking fund accounts, a Cedi Sinking Fund Account and a US Dollar Sinking Fund Account, as part of efforts to protect debt sustainability.

It is anticipated that the funds will act as liquidity buffers in 2026, 2027, and 2028 to guarantee the prompt redemption of maturing debts.

The Ministry also gave the public and investors the assurance that all future debt commitments, including those made under the DDEP, would be paid in full and on time.
