A major step towards the advancement of youth-centered policies and projects in Ghana was taken on Monday, November 10, 2025, when the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment formally established its Ministerial Advisory Board.

The newly appointed members of the Board were administered the Oath of Office and the Oath of Secrecy by Hon. George Opare Addo, the sector minister, at a brief ceremony in the Ministry’s conference room.

The Minister emphasised the significance of the Advisory Board in his speech and warned members not to view it as “just another board” established to carry out legal duties.

Rather, he underlined that the Board’s mandate is based on the legislation and that it has a significant obligation to develop policies and initiatives that have a direct bearing on the lives of Ghana’s youth.

The Minister reminded the members that as Ghana’s youth make up the bulk of the population, empowering them is essential to the country’s development goals.

In order to give young people chances in fields like education, skill development, business, and civic engagement, among others, he challenged the Board members to present creative concepts, workable plans, and practical suggestions.

He added that the Advisory Board must act as a think tank for the Ministry, offering direction that guarantees government interventions continue to be pertinent, inclusive, and effective.

He emphasised that the Board should not be ceremonial but rather a forum where audacious, forward-thinking ideas are developed to safeguard the future of young people.

The Board members committed to work hard alongside the Ministry to fulfil its purpose as the inauguration came to an end.

It is anticipated that their combined knowledge and commitment will bolster the Ministry’s efforts to create and carry out policies that enable Ghana’s youth to prosper in a world that is becoming more and more competitive.

The Ministerial Advisory Board’s creation heralds a new era in youth empowerment and development that puts youth at the centre of the country’s advancement.
