The Bono Regional Command of the National Signals Bureau (NSB) in Sunyani was commissioned by Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, Minister of the Interior, underscoring the government’s dedication to strengthening national security.
Hon. Muntaka emphasised the importance of the new command, saying it will work as a central centre for signals intelligence, utilising highly qualified personnel and cutting-edge equipment to provide security agencies with real-time and useful intelligence.
He clarified that armed robberies, cybercrime, chieftaincy disputes, farmer-herder clashes, and cross-border smuggling are among the security concerns that the command is expected to handle in the Bono Region.

The Hon. Minister emphasised that “it takes a whole region to secure its peace” and asked the public to support the NSB team and see the command as a shared resource for their security and development.
Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II, the Paramount Chief of the Dormaa Traditional Area and President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, praised the government for the facility designed to improve security in the area and the nation at large.
He took the opportunity to discuss the Gun Amnesty program, which aims to reduce the number of illegal firearms in circulation. He also urged anyone in possession of illegal firearms to turn them in before the deadline of January 15, 2026.
The Bono NSB Regional Command, according to Bono Regional Minister Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, is a significant step in the government’s endeavours to fortify Ghana’s security framework.
The NSB is Ghana’s signals intelligence agency, responsible for collecting, analyzing, and disseminating foreign signals intelligence to support national security decision-making.
Its primary responsibilities include gathering and analysing signals intelligence, carrying out cyber security operations, offering government agencies technical security help, and assisting law enforcement with communications interception and analysis.
