Madam Yassine Fall, the Senegalese Minister for Pan-African Integration and Foreign Affairs, delivered a special message from Senegal’s President Diomaye Faye to President John Dramani Mahama on Friday.

President Mahama was invited to give the keynote talk at a special event on September 26, 2025, as part of the message.

President Mahama praised Ghana and Senegal’s strong relationship and recalled their role in promoting Pan-Africanism.

“Ghana and Senegal have been at the forefront of Pan-Africanism and anything that has to do with the African personality in the struggle,” he said. “Currently, we are the champions of reparations, and we need to continue to tell the story of how Africa was raided by countries that called themselves developed. It is on the back of Africa that they rode to become what they are. So, if genocide in the Second World War deserves reparations, slavery was far worse. More people died in slavery than during the Second World War.”

Madam Fall expressed her condolences on behalf of President Faye to the President and the Ghanaian people for the deaths of eight citizens, including high-ranking government officials, in the helicopter crash on August 6, 2025.

She also praised President Mahama for his excellent continental leadership.

Joyce Bawah Mogtari, the president’s special adviser and advisor, and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the minister of foreign affairs, attended the meeting.
