Popular Ghanaian YouTuber and pan-Africanist, Wode Maya, born Berthold Winkler, wept on live television as he sang his late father’s favourite song.

On Friday, July 8, 2022, the astute YouTuber granted an exclusive interview with GTV’s Kafui Dey on his breakfast show in which he narrated his journey as a YouTuber.

While narrating how his father used to oppose his new profession because he did not understand why a trained Chinese-based aeronautical engineer would choose to forget about his job and only go into creating YouTube content.

He said his mother who was also present during the interview said; “My husband saw his first video in which he was feeding a Chinese lady romantically and he became very much upset and I have to calm him down before he could control his temper.”

However, Wode in turn narrated how his father became very supportive of his new career and how he has always been there for them since his formative years.

He added that his father used to sing the gospel song, “We have an anchor that keeps our soul,” whenever life becomes hard in the family but motivates them to be strong for there will be better days ahead.
