Twitter Left In Stitches After Malema’s Video Of Mantashe’s Walk
When we were young, our parents instilled in us the value of always showing respect for the elderly. However, for some of us, especially those who are active in politics, showing respect for the elderly is just a phrase. In the name of politics, younger politicians slam people who are old enough to be their parents, troll them, and occasionally insult them. They also make fun of them, making the entire world laugh at them for things they don’t even have control over, similar to what Economic Freedom Fighters Commander in Chief Julius Malema did to Energy Minister Gwede Mantashe.
Mantashe, the former general secretary of the African National Congress, was shown in a video that Malema shared straining to put certain steps together as he walked through an event. Malema liked this and made fun of the seniors’ predicaments.
The 67-year-old politician was seen in the video leaving the auditorium and making his way to the exit. It was clear from the video that the elderly man was having trouble walking; he was literally making baby steps and appeared to be in pain. However, Malema liked this, so he recorded the scene and posted it to Twitter.
While some of his supporters mocked the elderly man, suggesting that he may have health issues that make it difficult for him to walk as he did, others did not give a damn and just made fun of him, suggesting that since he is the minister of energy, it may be because he lacks the energy to walk that South Africa is currently experiencing load shedding.
