Two suspects have been taken into custody by the Eastern Regional Police Command in relation to a violent motorbike robbery that occurred at Sibakon Down, close to Comet Estate, in the Eastern Region.

An Okada rider was attacked and had his goods taken on January 18, 2026, according to a police statement released by the Command’s Public Affairs Unit.

On February 13, 2026, Kwabla Egblorgbe Gadoglo Mohammed, also known as Moha, a 31-year-old man, was apprehended in his hideout in Afienya by members of the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate, according to the police.

According to preliminary findings, Mohammed and a now-deceased accomplice allegedly hired Muntari Zakari, a motorbike rider, to transport him from Kwabenya to Sibakon Hospital.

The suspects allegedly used a stone and a firearm made in the area to attack the rider throughout the journey.

According to reports, the attackers took the victim’s iPhone 13 Pro and had him give them the key to his unregistered Royal motorcycle.

Residents intervened when the victim raised an alert, lynching one of the criminals as the other ran away with the stolen phone.

A cutter, two sets of scissors, two hammers, a hacksaw, a cutlass, a jackknife, a saw, and three cell phones were among the goods found during a follow-up search at Mohammed’s home in Abokobi.

A second suspect, Kwame Accolor, also known as Small Kidi, 37, was also apprehended at Anyako in the Volta Region as a consequence of additional investigations. According to police, he paid GH¢800 for the pilfered iPhone 13 Pro.

Authorities said that the local-made pistol thought to have been used in the attack is still being sought.

Since then, the suspects have been arraigned in court. After the court postponed sentencing, Mohammed, who entered a guilty plea to robbery, is scheduled to be sentenced on March 10, 2026.

Assuring locals of ongoing efforts to combat robberies and associated crimes throughout the region, the Eastern Regional Police Command reaffirmed its dedication to intelligence-led operations and public safety.
