The Upper East Regional branch of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has disposed of some unwholesome products worth GHS312,720,15 at the Sirigu disposal site.
This follows the constant surveillance by the FDA at various markets for unwholesome products.
The FDA assured the general public that it will not relent in its routine checks to rid the market of unwholesome products.
The Regional Head of the FDA, Sebastian Malawi Hotor explained that ensuring public health and safety is their prime objective.
He therefore urged the general public especially retailers and wholesalers to cooperate with the FDA to flush out all unwholesome products in the system. He further urged the consuming public to also look out for expired products when purchasing and volunteer information to FDA.
It took the collaborative efforts of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Environmental and Sanitation Agency (ESA), the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA), Ghana Police Service (GPS), and the Ghana National Fire Service (GFS) among others to help the FDA execute its mandate.
