Vice President Opoku-Agyemang attends Luanda for the AU-EU Summit.

Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, vice president, has traveled to Luanda, the capital of Angola, to attend the Seventh African Union-European Union (AU-EU) Summit.

Ghana’s national declaration defining the nation’s priorities in economic stability, job creation, food security, climate action, peace and security, and value-chain development will be delivered by the Vice President, who is attending the summit on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama.

The two-day summit, which begins on November 24 with the theme “Promoting peace and prosperity through effective multilateralism,” commemorates 25 years of AU-EU cooperation and falls on the 50th anniversary of Angola’s and several other African nations’ independence.

António Costa, President of the European Council, and François Lourenço, President of Angola, will co-chair it.

Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, will also represent the EU, and Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, will head the AU delegation.

Over the course of the two days, leaders will talk about how to improve collaboration in important areas such as prosperity, people, migration, mobility, and peace, security, governance, and multilateralism.

A joint statement confirming the AU-EU partnership’s strength, balance, and forward-thinking nature is anticipated to conclude the summit.

She is expected to return to Accra on Wednesday, November 26.
