An organisation that has been working in Ghana for the last 40 years, WaterAid Ghana, was presented to Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.

WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene) was the main topic of our conversations, and WaterAid stated that universal access to water would enhance public health.

The delegation was greeted by the vice president, who also praised WaterAid Ghana for their years of steady work. She also emphasised that the government is actively working to develop long-term solutions while voicing concerns over recent water pollution episodes.

It takes a team effort to keep our water safe and pure, which includes re-examining and expanding the preservation measures that have worked.

“Instead of skirting problems without finding a solution, we need partnerships that benefit both parties and take on problems head-on,” she stated.

“Finally, I encouraged WaterAid Ghana to amplify their advocacy on the international stage to highlight the environmental injustices facing Africa in terms of access to safe water and sanitation,” she added.
