    GNPBy GNPJune 13, 2022No Comments

KUMASI, Ghana, 13 June 2022 – The Volunteers For Muslim Youth Empowerment and Development, condemn in the strongest terms the horrendous attack on Students of Islamic Senior High School, by the Ghana Police, in Kumasi, in the early hours of today, Monday, 13 June, 2022.

Students went on the streets to protest over frequent road accidents at the main entrance of the school, when the alleged shooting happened. This discussion is not about whether the demonstration was authorized or not, but the unprofessional act of some police personnel.

The duty of the Security service is to protect life and property of the citizens, we do not see the need for the usage of teargas and bullets on unarmed students.

We condemn in the strongest possible terms this vicious attack on students.

We empathize with the students, their family, school authority, and wish a speedy recovery to the injured.

We express our grave concern about the significant implications of this attack on the safety and mental health of the students.
