‘We Will Make Sure That Your Lights Stay On And That You Don’t Experience Dumsor‘ – Mahama Assures Ghanaians

At the Annual National Convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission Ghana, President John Dramani Mahama reassured Ghanaians about his government’s commitment to ensuring a stable power supply, despite concerns over potential power outages. Mahama emphasized that his administration is working diligently to prevent a return of the frequent power cuts, often referred to as “dumsor.”

Speaking to thousands of attendees at the convention in Gomoa Pomadze, near Winneba Junction, Mahama acknowledged the energy sector’s challenges, including fuel shortages for power plants and delays in the maintenance of the West African Gas Pipeline. He assured the public that steps are being taken to avoid power shortages and guarantee a reliable electricity supply.

“We are assuming office at a critical time in our nation’s history. Ghana faces significant challenges, but that is precisely why you elected us. We will take full responsibility for solving these problems and transparently communicate the challenges we face,” the President stated.

He encouraged citizens not to lose hope, adding, “There is a threat of power outages, but my brothers and sisters, don’t despair. You elected us to solve the problems, not to pass blame. I assure you we will ensure your lights stay on.”
