The Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) through the Business Advisory Centre (BAC) of the Ga East Municipal Assembly (GEMA) and the PSD Consulting Agency, has begun the training of selected beneficiaries for the Ghana Jobs and Skills Project (GJSP) also known as YOUSTART.
The one-month training programme starting from Monday, 12 June, to Friday, 30th June, 2023, at the Nana Araba Otua Hall of the Wisconsin International University College (WIUC), Haatso.
The Ghana Jobs and Skills Project (GJSP), run by the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) with funding from World Bank; seeks to address unemployment in the country especially among the unemployed youth.
35 people are benefiting from the programme in the Ga East Municipality.
Opening the training programme for the beneficiaries on Monday, 12 June, 2023, the Presiding Member (PM) of th Ga East Municipal Assembly (GEMA), Hon. Jesse Nii Noi Anum, underscored the importance of the YOUSTART programme and made the participants aware of the resources being committed into it.
The Presiding Member, who represented the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Elizabeth Kaakie Mann, said the government is doing its best to address the unemployment situation in the country, particularly among the youth, and urged the participants to see to the need to sit through the training in order to progress and improve upon their businesses.
The Hon. PM charged the beneficiaries to seize the opportunity offered them to participate fully in the training programne to ensure that the objectives of the project are realized.
“I wish to remind you all that this opportunity is for a lifetime and there are many people out there who could not get the chance to be where you are today. It is therefore important for you not to take this opportunity for granted but make very good use of it to ensure the nation’s resources being invested in your career development and growth will not go waste”, he stressed.
The Lead Trainer and Facilitator, Mr. Eric Agyare, encouraged the participants to work hard to go through all the stages of the training so that they can get the funds they applied for.
“Keep in mind that you will be assessed and given marks to qualify you for the next stage so please try your possible best to get the required marks at every stage”, he appealed.
The participants, on day one of the training, were taken through topics such entrepreneurship, profit and loss, types of companies, registration of businesses, acquiring business certificates, payment of taxes, among others.
Also present at the opening ceremony were the Municipal Planning Officer, Mr. Daniel Baah Tenkorang and some officials from the GEA and BAC.
