The concern staffs of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) Ghana draws the attention of His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, to a matter of utmost concern regarding the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Agency. The media is spreading the information that, Mr. Basintale has been appointed the CEO of YEA, which has caused a great deal of worry and indignation among staff members and other important stakeholders, such as the National Youth Wing.
We respectfully inform you that the Deputy National Communications Officer of the NDC is not eligible for the CEO position under the YEA’s scheme of service, as authorized by the Public Service Commission. As per the Agency’s scheme of service, the position of CEO requires a candidate with a master’s degree and at least ten years of working experience. It also demands familiarity with public service and an intimate understanding of the Agency’s operations. Regrettably, we believe Mr. Basintale does not meet these specific requirements, particularly in terms of the requisite experience.
We think that the Agency’s problems necessitate a person who has long standing service with YEA and has extensive knowledge of its operations to spearhead reform and advancement. The attempts to restructure and reposition YEA as a key organization for lowering youth unemployment in Ghana may be jeopardized if someone from outside the Agency is appointed, particularly if they lack the necessary credentials.
We implore you, Your Excellency, to designate a dedicated and capable member of the Agency to lead its charge and help realize your goal of a “Resetting Ghana Agenda.” This choice will guarantee efficiency, continuity, and a greater emphasis on tackling Ghana’s urgent youth unemployment problem.
We appreciate your consideration and have faith in your leadership to make the right choice for the Agency and the country.
