Ghana Football Association will announce betPawa as the new headline sponsor for the Ghana Premier League next season.

According to Saddick Adams, a top sports journalist, the Ghana Premier League’s headline sponsorship with betPawa will now see the GPL renamed the betPawa Premier League.

On his Twitter page he shared; OFFICIAL: betPawa Ghana Premier League.

    Details soon.

According to sources, betPawa will sign a two-year contract with the Ghana FA, with a one-year extension option.

This will be a significant boost for both the brand and the Premier League clubs heading into the 2022/23 season.

The Ghana Premier League last had a major sponsor when Zylofon Cash agreed to a $10 million deal in 2018.

However, the five-year agreement was abruptly terminated, and the league has gone three seasons without a title sponsor.

Despite all of his accomplishments since taking office, one of the Kurt era’s drawbacks has been the lack of a sponsor for the Ghana League.

The Ghana league currently has low levels of remuneration, which leads to an exodus of the league’s best players at the end of each football season.

Yaw Annor, the league’s top scorer, has signed for Egyptian club Ismaily in a deal worth around $200,000.

The FA hierarchy believes that some of the player exodus will be curtailed, with teams in the local league in a better position to pay decent wages due to new contracts.

The sponsorship agreement will supplement clubs’ media rights payments from the FA’s agreement with pay-tv service provider StarTimes.

The 2022/23 Ghana Premier League will begin on September 9, 2022.
