GRNMA HEALTH FUND SUPPORT TO MEMBERS

The Brong Ahafo regional branch of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association in its numerous strides to attend to the welfare of its members has presented a cheque value of Gh¢10,000 to Ms. Comfort Chiraa, a midwife and a member of the Association in the Holy Family Hospital in Berekum who underwent treatment for breast cancer. This was a welfare package drawn from the health fund of the Association.

The regional chairman, Mr. Fidelis Atibila together with the district chairperson and Senior nurse managers presented the cheque to Madam Comfort in Berekum reiterated that the health fund was to cater for the needs of members in these circumstances.

In a similar gesture, the regional chairman presented an amount of Gh¢10,000 to Miss Margaret Nutor a senior community health nurse in the Tain District who was involved in an RTA and suffered a spinal injury.

Mr. Fidelis Atibila used the opportunity to thank members of the Association in the region for the response to the clarion call by leadership to withdraw their services in the just called-off industrial action to demand for improved conditions of service. He indicated that the negotiating team would put pressure on the employer to ensure that the welfare of members is enhanced.

He also used the ceremony to inform members of the upcoming regional nurses’ week celebration in October 2020 at the regional guest house in Sunyani.

While encouraging unity in the membership, Mr. Atibila called on all nurses and midwives across the country to have faith and trust in leadership of the Association to enable them roll out the many welfare policies for its members. He discouraged members from break away since in unity lies strength.
