We have the Quality to face Portugal. Otto Addo, head coach of the senior national team, has reaffirmed that they would be prepared for the World Cup match in Qatar on Thursday.
At Stadium 974 in Doha, Ghana’s campaign gets underway against the imposing Portugal of Europe. After making their debut in 2006 and missing the most recent competition, which was hosted in Russia, the Black Stars are making their fourth participation.
Speaking to journalists at the mandatory press conference ahead of the Thursday encounter, the former Black Stars player believes Ghana has the quality to face Portugal.
“I feel very honoured to be part of the team on and off the pitch. We have the quality to compete with them [Portugal] but we have to be brave and confident to go into such games. Surely the players are ready. We have to defend well looking at how the games are going in the competition.”
Black Stars are hoping to erase the bad memories of 2014 in this year’s Mundial by going beyond the quarterfinals the team reached in 2010.
