The Accra Regional Police Command has detained two suspects in separate but connected intelligence-led operations for unlawful possession of firearms, narcotic substances, and suspected stolen items, raising further concerns about the spread of illegal weapons and drugs throughout the metropolis.
The arrests were made following an operation conducted on December 10, 2025, by a joint team from the Accra Regional Police Command and the Police Intelligence Directorate.
Suleiman Danjumah, also known as Solomon Addai and Innocent, was granted bail by the Adabraka District Court on November 25, 2025, in connection with a prior case involving a Smith & Wesson pistol and 30 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Danjumah was apprehended during a follow-up operation after information indicated he was once more in possession of an illicit firearm, according to a police news statement.
Another unregistered handgun, a 9mm Parabellum Arcus 94, was found during the arrest search.
A cache of materials, including military uniforms and headgear, a police-issued Huawei cell phone, four different cell phones, a jackknife, a shocker, 34 blisters of 225 mg Tramadol, and an unregistered jungle motorbike, were also recovered from the suspect by the police.
The Police Huawei phone had been taken from a police officer, according to preliminary investigations.
According to the police, additional enquiries showed that Danjumah acknowledged distributing drugs in Las Vegas, Achimota.
Additionally, he is accused of firing warning bullets after a confrontation with Mutala Mohammed, another suspected drug dealer, which led to additional police action.
After Mutala Mohammed was taken into custody, a search of his property turned up 19 blisters of Tramadol 120mg, also known as “Red,” and two packages of dried leaves that appeared to be Indian hemp.
One Usman Ali was identified by the accused as the gun’s source during questioning. In order to support continuing investigations, the police stated that efforts were being made to find and apprehend him.
While the seized drugs and other things have been kept as exhibits and will be sent to the Police Forensic Science Laboratory for additional analysis, all of the suspects are now being held by the police to aid in investigations.
