MOMO VENDOR DEFRAUDED OF GHC 12,000 BY CUSTOMER WHO LOST IT TO BETTING
A MoMo vendor at Juapong, Srah Priscilla, has been defrauded of GHC 12,000 by a customer.
Speaking to Crime Check Foundation, Priscilla said the customer approached her for help to pay off an MTN loan of GHC 12,000. He promised to refund the money immediately after securing another loan.
According to her, after she sent the money, the customer became reluctant to pay back and attempted to flee.
She said she managed to trace him to another MoMo vendor where he was attempting the same act but he was accosted and handed over to the police.
Priscilla added that checks on the suspect’s phone revealed that he had used the money for sports betting and lost it.
The vendor said her employer is demanding that she pays the money, an amount she cannot afford.
She is appealing to the public for support.
